Free App Saturday..

It is again Saturday, so it must be Free App Saturday!!  I know it has been spotty here for Free App Saturday for a little while, being prego, and having new baby will do that to your blogging work I guess:-)  But, I am back to working diligently to find some fun new free educational apps, and lest you  think the whole “having a baby” thing was just all fun and games, during many late night feedings while in the hospital I did research to find new apps, all for you, my lovely readers:-)

Endless Wordplay will kick us off this morning, another game from the Endless Alphabet and Endless Reader creators, it is a great app for spelling games for the early elementary crowd.  Again with the same fun graphics and monsters to hang with, these creators really know how to get kids engaged, it is quite fun, even for older kids:-)

Mickey’s Magical Math World is a fun app for younger kids, to help them practice basic math skills of counting to 10, and back from 10, sorting, adding etc.  This is a fun and comprehensive game that will engage the young learner and help them build good reasoning and logic skills, while they help their fave Disney buddies!

For another Disney app, how about trying DisneyNature?  It is not Mouse related at all, but an awesome augmented reality game for early elementary kids to explore and learn about nature.  Since it is so darn cold out right now, this is great way to explore and learn about the natural world around us, and this app really fills the bill quite well, with many features like photo journaling, and divi-pins you can be awarded for your nature finds, and parent pages to help you bring the lessons in the real life nature near you!!

So, for the slightly older crowd I have found an awesome app, that grows bigger and even more awesome each week!!  Epic is an online database of books, many, many, many books, so many in fact it has been called the “Netflix of books for kids”!!!  There are books for elementary through middle school age readers, and with thousands of popular titles you are sure to find something for your young readers to enjoy on these cold winter days.  With the options of “read to me’ for younger kids, recommendations culled from the books you have already finished, and badges earned for the number of pages and books read, this is an app you will keep handy for just about any time you need to occupy busy little brains:-)

Inventioneers is a fun and creative app that will help your busy brained child to make new and exciting inventions, with some helpful little friends!  Learn to work with natural physics like wind, and over 40 different tools, to create something fun and amazing, and completely your own.  With fun open ended play and problem solving, this game has good potential for those budding scientists, or just those slightly older scientists who enjoy creating crazy new inventions just to see what they do, lol:-)free app saturday @afamilieslove

Verbally is the choice for those special kids in our lives who have a harder time communicating.  This is an app for older kids who can read, and who want to communicate, but struggle with language.  Verbally is an intuitive app that will help to give a voice to those who have none, and will make it faster and more seamless for conversational purposes.
