Healthy clean pantry snacks…

So, one of the things I hear a lot from people who are looking to eat healthier is that it is hard when it comes to snacks or convenience items!  Healthy clean pantry snacks can be a challenge, if you are looking at foods in the same way you always have!  But this doesn’t have to be the case, and I want to show you a few simple and yummy healthy clean pantry snacks for you to try out today!!

One of my fave tricks for a healthy clean pantry snack is to buy a big bag of nuts, any kind, or mixed, a can of raisins, craisins, and other dried fruits(mango, banana chips, apple slices, etc).  I will pull out a dozen or more snack sized baggies, and go through filling each up with a small handful of each  item, assembly line style, zipper shut, and BOOM!!  healthy clean snacks are finished, ready to go into a lunch box or purse for an on the go breakfast/snack.  If your kids are resistant to this add in a few chocolate chips or yogurt raisins to the mix for some fun and variety:-)

I do this with crackers too, snack sized bags full of a crunchy cracker, then I can add in a small dish of hummus or guac. or even just a dish of tuna or chicken salad and use the crackers instead of bread(healthy and less carbs/calories).

talking about hummus, always keep a can or two of chickpeas in the clean eating pantry!  There is nothing better for nutrition and protein, low cal, fast and yummy to have in the house!!  Whipped up in the blender with some olive oil, lemon juice and salt(plus curry powder in my house:-) and you have a simple hummus. This is a clean pantry staple for snacking, or as a meal base some days!

If you have an extra 20 minutes one day bake up a batch or two of muffins, for a super simple, healthy and versatile clean pantry snack!  These recipes are both amazing, and flexible, adding tons of nutrition, without a lot of calories.  these morning glory muffins are quick and rdelish!

Muffins are by far our go-to snack item, you can customize the same batter (like this one)into 3 or more different variations, just add shredded carrots, nutmeg and nuts/seeds to one and you have carrot cake.  another add in banana and walnuts for banana bread, or chocolate chips and PB for a fun PB cup muffin kids love!  My kids fave is a Pb muffin with a dollop of jelly added 5 minutes into the baking time, for a PB and jelly muffin;-)

Just whipped up these quick healthy muffins last night, took about 8 minutes from start to baking!!! made some without chips for the Cupcake Princess, some with for the kiddos! This was a hit, and a super way to get extra protein into kids who don’t like meat(adults for that matter;-)

I made these muffins with things that your average home with a clean pantry probably has on hand, just as a test, and they were really great!  Could totally make these right before dinner, and have them bake while you are eating, just set the timer, lol!
