oohhhh yeah, summer school is about to commence, and I am psyched!! I have our library requests maxed out, I have booked stacked everywhere, I have inventoried what we have on our shelves, and plan to do some fun purchasing at the used curriculum sale, we are so set!! I love doing school in the summer, when else do you get to lay in the grass and watch ants drag bread crumbs to their home, and call it science, and art if you draw it. Watch a spider spin its web in the shade of the grape arbor, while working on your paper mache volcano, summer school. Read in the twilight hours, about Laura Ingalls, then go in and make mixed berry jam, from berries you picked, with Ma, ahem, mom, where else but summer school.
Long hours spent, browsing the cool, quiet canyons of books at the library, just to see what they have, what cover peaks your interest, this is what summer school says to us. Beach days, with quiet afternoons spent exploring the treasures we bring home, painting the sea birds or shapes of the dunes.
